Apparently this picture (top) is currently circulating Facebook. This is some racist bullshit. Immigrants are dangerous? Is that the message?
Well clearly these people don’t know about the man in the cowboy hat from the Boston Marathon Bombing (bottom pic).
His name is Carlos Arrendondo. He has been a peace activist since 2004, when his son was killed serving his country in Iraq.
Carlos is an immigrant from Costa Rica. At first, he was an undocumented immigrant, but is now a US citizen.
When the bombs went off in boston that day, Carlos ran towards the carnage. He found Jeffery Bauman (the man in the wheelchair) lying on the ground in a pool of blood, both his legs blown off. He picked up Jeffery and carried him to a wheelchair, all while pinching shut his exposed artery to stop him from bleeding out.
Later, from his hospital bed, Jeffery described the bombing suspects to the police. Without Jeff, the police wouldn’t have been able to identify Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother so quickly. And without Carlos, Jeff probably wouldn’t have lived to talk to the police.
Preventing legal immigration won’t stop massacres like this from occurring (just ask natural born US citizens like James Holmes, Adam Lanza, Jared Laughner, Eric Harris and Dylan klebold, and Timothy McVeigh).
But it will make it harder for the Carlos Arrendondos’ of the world to save more lives.

seriously though I’m really glad that we can actually have these conversations. My biggest concern about liking a white guy was liking him for so long and then, what if he had super problematic views and shit? Then I would have wasted all my time liking somebody awful, and on top of that, I would have liked someone who was soaking in their privilege and that’s gross.
So I’m glad that things turned out otherwise, and it’s really nice talking to him about this shit because seriously, in the event that we do end up dating, race and privilege are things that will come up.
So yeah, thank god.
But really
it pleases me seeing him so grossed out by such gross things.

Keirah Rose is a friend of mine personally. She recently came out and told all of us that a few years back she was at an anime convention and got herself into a situation where she needed medical help.
Once they found out she was a trans-woman the medical staff proceeded to abuse her. They tore off her clothes and tore her hair out of her head. They laughed and said horrible things about her body. While they thought she was unconscious they tore her urinary tract with a catheter, leaving her genitals heavily mutilated and fractured.
They abandoned her to walk for 4 miles barefooted and with minimal (paper) clothing. She was bleeding both externally and internally and had no bladder control.
She is now in frequent pain and was advised by her medical doctor to get treated ASAP by either getting SRS or genital reconstruction. She chose SRS which is going to cost her about 10,000 dollars not counting pain medicine, antibiotics, hotel stay, food, etc. She hopes to see Dr. Saran in Thailand.
