That last ask reminded me of something

Y’all know about the dude I like, who we have fondly nicknamed Scandiboy. Well, I’ve liked him, but I’ve been a bit hesitant because I don’t know his thoughts on race, white privilege, how he responds if his whiteness gets called out, etc.

Okay so I made a hella sarcastic fb status about race.

And Scandiboy.

Scandiboy, who never comments on anything on facebook.

Scandiboy, who never comments on anything on facebook ever except for maybe once in three got damn blue moons.

Commented on my status.

Multiple times.

CORRECTLY.

He’s not getting any cookies, but omg. I just…

I like….

I just….

I mean…

Just… The relief! I was sitting there fallin out like, thank you Black baby jayzus that I didn’t waste half a year liking some dude only to have him turn out to be an ignorant, privilege denying asshole. I was real worried about that.

I mean we didn’t have a serious discussion. Just joking around.

But he showed that he’s aware of his whiteness and of his privilege, which is a good start (And, given the abundance of privilege denial at this school, promising. I have faith in him to do right).

Final test: actual discussion on privilege.

But so far so good.
