Nobody assumed I was white, they all know I’m not lol.^^^ Alla dis. ALLA DIS. Walmart is far away, and I gotta take the bus, but in the end, it’s cheaper than the grocery stores and local markets right down the road. And until people decide to just give me food, Ima shop there. And I’ma keep going back there for everythingI need.Bolding for truth because YESSSS. We’re in the exact same boat. People wanna get all preachy about where I buy my food from. I only get paid once a month. I still ain’t got the first paycheck, and I had to make less than 200 dollars stretch for the past two months, and white folk wanna get preachy about me buying from Walmart instead of spending 7 bucks on a jarof milk at the local market?YES. You better preach. 98% of our school is like that. But it’s not even at school. Everywhere, there’s just pretentious people waiting for someone doing a lil bit worse than them to swoop in on, reasons be damned. And in the context of our school that is some Grade A White Bullshittery. And now I’m pissed.
I don’t care how many side eyes this gets me.
Thank god for walmart….
My favorite part is that the type of people who say shit like this are the same people with iPods and wearing American Apparel and Toms. They’re the same people who posted Kony 2012 shit everywhere, who think it’s totally cool to wear “Native American” prints and scream “N****!” at parties. They can go suck a rusty chainsaw.
seriously white ppl can miss me with that bullshit, i have to fucking plan out month by month, week by week on how i can spread out meals, and sometimes Walmart is the only option ughh!
People literally cannot comprehend that not everyone is in the same financial boat as them. They wanna bitch about how we spend our money, bitch about where we spend our money, but don’t wanna do a damn thing to help.
Like you said, some of us gotta be careful with our money. Some of us can only do fun things once in a blue moon. Some of us have to plan out in advance what we’re going to make, what we’re going to buy, and if it will last us until the next time we can afford to buy more. And they wanna get mad because we go the cheap route?
Nah, bruh. Hop off my clit with that nonsense.
Word. I just got home from Walmart not that fucking long ago, and guess what? They’re still not cheap enough for me. We still don’t have enough food to last us more than two weeks, at most.
So guess what bitches? I’mma need to take my little tail right on back to Wally world, and buy some more fucking groceries, so you can just fuck right the hell off. Not everybody can afford eighty dollar trips to the grocery store more than once a month. Seriously, there are days when we don’t fucking eat, so have some reality pie, you asshats.
I got me some fucking bra’s too, because they’re cheap and affordable. I’m getting my fatkini from there next week, too. If you want people to not shop at Walmart, make fucking affordable options for them. We can’t all buy 60 dollar eco-friendly bags to put our fat wallets in, friend. We’re not all loaded. So the next time you sit your ignorant little ass down somewhere, talkin’ about how we’re ruining the world because we shop at walmart, why don’t you instead put all that hot air into a balloon, and fly up into the mesosphere and die.
People want you to save the world by buying localy and at ~organic, conscious~ locations, but that shit is so out of reach for so many people that it’s unreasonable to just expect anyone to just drop their shit and do it. :| And then to shame them when they can’t? Uh-uh.
^^
I love it when people are like “But it’s sooooooo worth the extra money, it’s only 5 dollars more!” That is some weak fucking tea to me.
Bitch, 5 dollars is the difference between being broke, and having enough money to afford your groceries. If I buy your twelve dollar food, then that’s less money for me all around.
I will be continuing to shop at Walmart, and stores like it until my finances allow differently. I’ve been told I’m not a femnist, that I don’t care about all these issues, because I shop at places I can afford.
Honeybooboochile, I’m so sorry that me wanting to remain healthy and living involves me shopping at Walmart. Until the day that I can buy clothes for my size, shoes, food, household items, and books for as cheaply as they’re sold at Walmart at more expensive and environmentally conscious stores, I will continue to get my tail to Walmart.
Every time someone tries to come to me with this bullshit, I’m just like “bye hater, watch me eat this food I bought.”
Damn right. All of this. When I’m back in my hometown, either we shop at Wal-Mart or we shop at another national chain. We have nothing else. Because in my tiny community, in a county with two stoplights, the giant chain stores have come in and overrun any semblance of non-monopolistic local business practice. If you want groceries, the best option you have is Harris Teeter. Ain’t that lovely? (By the way — we have one grocery store nearby in our county, Food Lion, a state chain — Wal-Mart and Harris Teeter are in the next county over.)
My mama goes to three different chain grocery stores in an attempt to get food for our house as cheaply as possible. People don’t even goddamn think outside of their own little world — you know, if I hadn’t gone to university, I don’t think I would be sure I’d eaten a single organic thing in my entire life? If we’re supposed to know how to buy “what’s better for us,” who the hell is gonna teach you that?
People don’t know shit. If you “buy local” here, you either choke your wallet at an occasional farmer’s market (which we could do, but that doesn’t mean anyone but myself would have the time to make the food, and I don’t really know how to cook outside of a microwave), or you get all the stuff you actually need, in its store-bought pre-made format. My mama works two jobs and takes care of my grandmother with dementia. You think she has time to make a hearty, organic, bourgeois-approved meal for us? What the fuck is going on in your head?
We have to feed upwards of 7+ people on mostly one paycheck, which is commission. Therefore places like Walmart, and Aldi’s, and fucking Save-a-lot, are our best options if we want the food to feed everyone with everyone’s dietary needs, and still be in the safe zone.
Can I just say that I don’t understand why we all must assume that the OP is white and that this is a race thing? There are some extremely well off people of all other races as well. I don’t understand why they say whites won’t have to stretch their money. I will never understand that. It all depends on the different demographics and economy in different areas of who must stretch their money and who will be totally in a comfort zone and not have to worry at all. It is not a race thing.
#don’tevengiveafuckifIgethateforthis.
Nobody said it was a race thing either, why are you saying we’re assuming it is? Does race play into it sometimes? Yes. But ain’t none of us talkin bout that.
And who said that white people don’t gotta work for their money? I’m pretty sure no one said that. In fact… some of the people in the thread are white. What was being said about white people is that the people who tend to harass us about where we shop and try to police where we shop and judge us by those locations… are white people.
