The headdress issue wasn’t the only thing that happened…

During the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I finally succumb to whatever illness that had been trying to take me over (my bones were achy!). So, I decided to return to my tent.

My boo and I were entering our tent when some White dude came over and was like

“Wassup? What are y’all doing?”

We didn’t think anything of it cause it’s Bonnaroo… some people are just REALLY HIGH (on whatever drug) and are unnecessarily friendly. But, then he said he was just making sure that we weren’t stealing anything.

We replied that it was our tent and I quickly got inside because I still wasn’t feeling well and assumed the conversation was over. The guy walked away. While we were inside, we decided to use our flashlight to look around and make sure there was no bugs inside because our friend had found a huge fucking spider in her tent the day before. 

I’m telling you… 1 minute passes by (at the most) and from outside of the tent, I hear the same voice AGAIN

“Hey! What’s up? What’s going on?”

So, my fiance is like “Man, what do you want?” 

“Is that your tent? We just got $300 worth of stuff stolen from our tent I’m just trying to make sure that y’all aren’t stealing anything.”

I’m sick.. I’m tired… and I’m pissed off. 

“WE ALREADY TOLD YOU! THIS IS OUR FUCKING TENT!”

He says that he got suspicious because he “saw us rummaging.” So, I’m having Trayvon Martin thoughts… robberies have happened and someone takes it upon themselves to play police and sees a threat that’s not there. I say,

I DON’T GIVE A FUCK WHAT YOU SAW. YOU SHOULDN’T EVEN BE LOOKING OVER HERE. WE ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT THIS IS OUR TENT. I CAN RUMMAGE IN MY OWN TENT. YOU’RE JUST OVER HERE CAUSE WE’RE BLACK!

Of course, he denies it. He says his girlfriend is Black, to which I reply that I’ve seen many girls have White boyfriends, only to find out that they’re racist! Then, he says

“This is the reason why racism still exists today… because Black people like you…”

I’m like, “Oh Yeah!! Black people getting constantly harassed by Whites is the reason why racism exists today!!!!! You just proved my point. Good night.” I go back into my tent because I’m literally done with this dude. My fiance (who’s 1/2 White) is generally a nicer person, so he’s just telling the dude that he needs to leave. The guy still will not leave! 

“I was just coming over here because we just got $300 worth of stuff stolen from our tent and I haven’t see y’all around here before.”

So, my fiance is like, “You haven’t seen us before? We haven’t seen YOU before!! Who the fuck are you? You need to leave!”

The guy finally leaves, but I overhear him talking shit the next morning from his camp area. 

It’s that color blind bullshit. The White guy was like “I don’t see color. Why are you cursing? That’s not the Bonnaroo spirit.. yada yada yada.” Like.. yeah.. .What is the Bonnaroo spirit? You repeatedly harassing us? Me being stuck with a group of White people who haven’t asked me ONE single thing about myself? White girls dancing around in headdresses? ?? 

Isn’t the Bonnaroo spirit responsible for $300 worth of your shit getting stolen dude?… because you were DUMB enough to believe that people won’t steal?? It’s that same naivety and idiocy that drives your alleged colorblindness.
