People don’t not talk about it because “they were too smart.” No. It’s called an erasure of history. That tends to happen when there’s a blemish in the past that makes white people look bad.

It’s a matter of dehumanization, murder, colonialism, erasure and racism, not a matter of intelligence or strength. The fact that he’s trying to say that it is tells me just how simple this fool is.

Dumb and weak. Uh-huh.

Never mind that lots of slaves were tricked into believing that slavery was a system designed to help them.

Never mind that it wasn’t about intelligence but force.

Never mind that slaves weren’t allowed to read and write, because they were afraid of our intelligence and knew that if we harnessed it, they would be fucked.

Never mind that slaves couldn’t even go to church without the supervision of a white person because the idea of Black slaves getting together scared the hell out of them.

Never mind the Black slaves who not only escaped slavery but helped countless other slaves escape as well.

That’s why white people had to resort to lynching us once slavery was over with, right? That’s why they resorted to painting us to be a violent, uncontrollable people, because our strength and intelligence scared them and continues to scare them to this very day, right? That’s why they destroyed our neighborhoods when we got to be a bit too successful for their liking, right? That’s why there’s the prison complex, and wrongful profiling, even though Black people are less likely to commit certain crimes than white people. That’s why the NAACP has such an intimidating presence. That’s why Jim Crow laws existed back then, and still exist now. That’s why they tell us to “get over it” and “stop talking about it.” Because we Black folk are just too weak and too stupid. Always were, always will be.

Right?

But seriously. The fact that he is trying to blame Black slaves for having been enslaved lets me know there’s no arguing with him. If you haven’t already, it’d be best to just cut your losses, which, to be honest, isn’t a loss at all. Fuck basic people. You don’t need that kind of mentality in your life.
