I’ve been trying to keep this to myself for a long time. But I just can’t contain it any longer. I can’t lie to you about who I am any longer. You all have the right to know the truth.

The truth is… I’m not a multiracial Black woman.

I’m a white woman.

I know I have brown skin. And non white features. And curly ~ethnic hair~. I know I face racial discrimination on the basis of appearing as Black to most people, but I need you to look past that. I’m not Black. I’m not multi-racial. I identify as white. I am white.

I’m sorry for having kept it a secret for so long. I feel like I lied to you all about my identity. So from now on, all I ask of you is that you treat me as who I am. I’m still the same Alex you always knew.
