Save this (possibly as a separate post so you aren’t confusing other newbs like me with the references to this conversation) link, and send it to people as an opening statement when you encounter people who are as stupid as me.

I apologize for the fact that my parents raised me in an environment free of the racism and fear that other people are trapped in. It kept me from knowing about the bad things that happen in the world, and I’m sorry for not knowing. I’m sorry for inadvertently being a source of annoyance and showing the white privilege I wasn’t even aware I had.

Now, to all of the people who have taken the time to speak with me about this, I’d rather enjoy just being left alone. I’m going to read through these articles, and I’m going to think about what I read.

Why would you even demand that a PoC compiles this shit for you? “This is what you SHOULD do.” Really? PoC were talking AMONGST THEMSELVES. So now we can’t have a god damn conversation without preparing shit ~just in case~ ignorant white people like yourself decide to barge in, uninformed, to tell us how things do and don’t affect us? You came into a convo where PoC are talking about shit that affect them. YOU didn’t know what you were talking about. But rather than using GOOGLE, you decided to come and be an asshole, demand that you get educated, get upset that people told you to go do your own research, and now that somebody did it, you’re pulling that, “There’s a good little minority” pat on the head shit.
