A quick Public Service Announcement

dtwps-bigotry:

With the way Riley and their followers are acting for being called out—That is, threatening, sexually harassing, and just generally being really malicious towards a 16 year old, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that no matter how much Riley sucks, how much of a bigot they are, how badly they act towards people who call them out, it is never okay to harass or threaten them.

Riley and I obviously disagree on harassment, so what I mean is don’t intentionally misgender them, don’t call them slurs (SLURS ARE NEVER OKAY), don’t intentionally trigger them, don’t send them hate mail, et cetera, and don’t direct your followers to do it either.  Lets call Riley out on their abusive behavior, their hypocricy and bigotry, their outright hostility to anyone who disagrees no matter how politely or how harmless the disagreement is, and the cultlike behavior they demand of their followers.

To reiterate, call Riley out on their rank bullshit and for allowing themself to become a big deal in Tumblr SJ without giving a shit about any issue that doesn’t affect them.  Call them out for being a scammer, and for holding everyone else to different standards than they hold others.  But don’t be a racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, classist, et cetera douche.  DTWPS-bigotry is not okay with that!  Even if Riley is.

1. I’ma ask for proof of said bigotry because y’all have been proven time and time again.

2. Please, tell me how someoneallows themselves to become a big deal in ~tumblr SJ~ I’m sorry, were they supposed to start banning people from seeing their page at some point? Were they supposed to tell people “Ok guys, nobody else follow me!”? Were they supposed to block people? (Because news flash, blocking on Tumblr doesn’t keep people from seeing your page!) How in the can you possibly even blame how big of a deal they may or may not be on them? LOL.

3. LOL at cult like behavior. Maybe you wouldn’t know this, but when we see someone we consider to be a friend being kicked and beaten by people who hate them, we’re not going to sit and watch while clutching our pearls. We’re going to help fight those motherfuckers off. Because—gasp!—that’s what people do when they care about someone else’s humanity. Secondly, believe it or not, we don’t always agree with Riley. We’re not all a hive mind. But just because we all have beliefs in common, we’re a fucking cult, right? Kind of like how people think all of us must ~all~ be Riley, huh?

4. For fuck’s sake. Riley’s blog isn’t SJ. REAL. LIFE. EXPERIENCES. ARE NOT. SOCIAL. JUSTICE. They are lived experience. They are Riley’s lived experiences. They’re not some sort of anthropological study. So for fuck’s sake, if you don’t stop labelling them or us as social justice…!

A poignant post by alexandraerin:

For Our Protection

The way that Black bloggers who talk about race are expected to be mindful about not triggering the people who keep coming at them and keep arguments with them going while not having a single thought given about their mental and emotional health in the midst of this…I just can’t help seeing a parallel between that and the way that Stand Your Ground laws are interpreted and enforced. We create or co-opt structures — laws, manners, social conventions — for our protection, and we use them to defend ourselves, or even to attack, but we won’t tolerate them being used against us, or even in the defense of others.

I just had the BEST moment at work today bwahaha

Whenever I’m on Tumblr, I always see the phrase, “White people ruin everything!” pop up on my dash every so often, often referring to the fact that white people will appropriate some badass part of Black culture and just botch the hell out of it. (Let’s talk about slang, yes? e_e)

OKAY. That being said, it’s story time.

At work, my coworkers were talking about their asses, and being all, “Big Booty Problems LOLOL WE GOT SUCH BIG ASSES” (They have really flat asses). And THEN, they were talking about twerking, and ass clapping and bragging about how good at it they are.

“Oh, I can twerk!”

“Watch this, I can make my booty clap!”

Then they demonstrated. Looked like some flailing, crazy noodles; one of them almost knocked themselves down the damn stairs lol. Talkin bout some “LOOK I’M TWERKING!”

I was just staring at them like >:| and all of a sudden, Riley appeared. It was like they popped up in my subconscious, because I heard their voice clear as day in my head, go:

“White people ruin Everything!

And then I started snickering and had to quickly leave the room, and then I just started dying of laughter, and all of them were confused as hell. They prolly think I was laughing at them. Oh well :D Because I mean, I was. But I was laughing more at the fact that that Tumblr phrase popped up, and that it popped up in Riley’s voice, and the fact that I heard it so clearly. Just…. RILEY. WHY U IN MY HEAD, YO?

Ohhhh man! Good times. :D

Back to work I go!
